Surprisingly he wins and becomes next in line to fight the heavyweight champion Max Baer.

In a great upset he defeats the defending heavyweight champion.

The plot would only be predictable if one were to know the true life story of Jim Braddock prior to watching the movie. They both have strength and faith, which helps them get through the tough times and stay together.

If one does not know, on the other hand, then the plot is not predictable because you never know what's going to happen to him in his fights or if he's going to survive and pull through the hardships he has to face. Jay, Rosemary, and Howard Braddock are Jim and Mae's children.Braddock was an amateur boxer before 1929 and was fairly successful.After the Stock Market Crash his career took a downturn. Later, desperate for money, he participates in another match.During the Great Depression, life for many Americans was difficult.Everyday families faced hardships and new challenges.Many men did as much as they could to provide shelter and at least one meal for their families.One of these men was named Jim Braddock, who became a famous and loved, professional boxer and is who the movie "Cinderella Man" is based on.Braddock’s character traits shown in the movie are all important and appropriate due to the harshness of those times.The economical and societal conditions and their changes during the film had a dramatic affect on the story....James Braddock's story shows a similar journey to Cinderella's story, evidently creating a movie of his life called, "Cinderella Man....James Braddock's story is an incredible journey that gave hope to many during the trying time of the Great Depression. James Braddock, the man who used to have it all, was in the same boat as the others facing the struggles during the Great Depression, making him more relatable. James Braddock experienced a true Cinderella Story.
